r/Entitledparents In today's story, OP works at a house sitting / pet sitting business, and she gets hired to watch a dog for a week. When OP shows up at the house, she's shocked to discover that an actual human child is waiting for her in the house, and the parents have already left! The mother actually hired a pet sitting service to care for a little girl for several weeks. What kind of irresponsible parent do you have to be to just hand over your child to a complete stranger like that?

  • Random parent dumps kid with you? Call CPS and the cops. That's child abandonment/ endangering .

    Brianna RichardsonBrianna RichardsonPäivä sitten
  • As the police said, it's surprising how not rare this is. There are plenty of similar stories out there. The problem is that so many people will shame a person for calling in the authorities, because "if you care about children, at all, you should just suck it up and babysit." NO! If you care about children, at all, and especially if you love that child, in particular, then you owe it to that child to call the police, get the incident on record, and make sure that the child will be PROPERLY loved and looked after from then on. Even if it was a child I knew and adored, if I say, "I can't babysit right now," and the parent abandoned the child, figuring I'd just babysit, anyway, I would still call the cops, because 1) No means no, and 2) the mother was willing to gamble her child's safety like that? What else is she willing to do, what DOES she do, behind closed doors? Save a child. Call the cops. Volunteer to adopt the child, if you want to, but GET THE COPS INVOLVED. The number of children who grow up in terror and torment, and worse, the number of children who don't grow up, at all, due to neglectful and/or abusive parents is staggering. CPS often can't do anything, because the parents know how to skirt the system. Something like this is exactly what the children need to be rescued. When I was young, I would have been suckered into watching the child, and maybe even protecting the parent, because "faaaaaaaamily." But now I know - functional families are WONDERFUL. But dysfunctional families are hell, and if you care about the child, do what you can to save them, blood be damned. "Blood is thicker than water," but so is raw sewage, and I wouldn't want any child to swim in it.

  • Jesus christ! As a single parent I worked so damn hard to protect my kids from harm. I decided early on to stay single for their sake to keep my boys safe. There is no way in heck I would just drop them off with someone I have spoken to once. I never had the money to get my nails done anyway as a single parent and was lucky to get my hair cut 2 times a year. My boys are my concern. They have now made it to adulthood without any harm. My money went into raising my boys and their education and betterment. But then, not every mother cares that much about their kids wellbeing I guess. Wow. Just wow.

  • My goodness, meat is back on the table! All you have to do is find a place where Karens roam. Eventually one will force you to watch their spawn. You now have a child. Take child to park with lots of squirrels and cover child with bird food and get your bow and arrow ready. That's gonna be some good eatin' one way or another! ^^^^^^^^^ People like that exist. I wonder how many children were lost to Karen Neglect? Mmmm, baby back ribs.

  • My neighbour isn't too dissimilar to the woman who abandoned her 5year old. While she hasn't pulled that stunt yet it's absolutely clear that she views her 5/6 year old son as an inconvenience. It's heartbreaking hearing the way she talks to the kid...constantly scowling and berating him for effectively nothing. A few weeks ago I saw her screaming at him for playing with snow while he waited on her outside. She's a nightmare.

  • I can't believe a mom and dad would actually leave a seven year old like that while giong on VACATION! this is why kids can get abducted sooooo easily. Is that truely the amount of love these parents had for their child to give this little of a shit about her wellbeing? Its parents like these that put me into a murderous rage. They don't deserve a vacation they deserve chains and only bread to eat, surrounded by cement for the rest of their miserable existences. Poor excuses for providing parents. MONSTERS!.

She came to my door around 3 am one last year asking me to watch her kid. She said that her 98 year old grandmother had a stroke and it wasn't looking good. Obviously she couldn't get her normal babysitter. I said sure, she handed me the kid, and I just put him to bed. She gave me her phone number and her husbands, and her mom's. Neighbor, came back around 10 am her kid was just waking up, and I was fixing breakfast for me and kid. She explained that her grandmother had a close call, and would be in the hospital for a few days. She thanked me, and got her kid. That afternoon she came over and gave me cookies.

Or worst case: people rented an apartment and behind some furniture, they found a crip with a mummified baby in there. Was not even a year old and it starved, after the parents "forgot" to take the child with them to the new place. The apartment wasnt look after or rented out for almost a year. Why do people make kids when they dont wanna take responsibility?! Just sterilize!
