r/Maliciouscompliance My Horrible Boss Dared Me To Quit... So I Did

380 622 Näkymät

r/Maliciouscompliance When will bosses ever learn that they need us more than we need them. The boss in today's story doesn't seem to understand that basic fact, because he tells OP to quit if he hates his job so much. OP happily agrees, and leaves the boss hanging during one of their busiest periods. In just a few hours, the boss calls OP back begging to him to come back to work. Too bad, so sad. See ya later!

  • No gonna lie, the statement about getting promoted by just not caring about those below you really got me. It seems this is just the human way right now and I hope that we can make the work force a better place and realize that just because we are in charge of someone because we can do that job based on years of experience, that those same below below can be just as valuable as those of us in charge. Sadly, I can't help everyone out, but I try to make this difference for those below me because I know I didn't enjoy those above me not caring about me at all. Now I just eat that shameless carelessness at my level so that those below me don't have to suffer the way I did.

  • "it would scare you if you knew how little people that make sure the planes are safe gets paid". It is more scarier to know that the people that build planes never fly, because they know how careless planes are built or how cheap they are with materials. I may only have worked with making the parts for airbus and Boeing, so I'm not that scared of flying. But none of the ones that assembled the airplanes ever flew. They knew so they never took a flight anywhere.

  • I feel for that poor insomniac. I get maybe 4 to 6 hours of sleep a night, usually closer to 4 hours, and can't fall back asleep after waking up, ever, so my day is split into a 4 hour sleep period, 8 to 12 hours of waking time feeling groggy and unrested, 2 hours of wind down, and then tossing and turning until I fall asleep, usually takes a couple hours.

  • The reason you don't get fired is because they legally cannot do that (i am not saying you can't legally fire them, but generally there is a loophole which makes it illegal to fire them at that point. (Maybe something in a contract or whatnot) So then you may ask, why should they get promoted. Generally it is also due to a contract, however one of my bosses told me they were promoted to get them away from the rest of us. Both for his safety, and so we would not go to jail for killing him. (Two people on my team were actually ex-cons, so they were even more likely to kill him)

  • Awwwe! That's adorable with the whole brother being late story. When I was late and it started inconveniencing other members of my family and school, my father showed my video footage of the before, during and after events in real time of a hostage situation when they were strapped to a bomb. See, on that day the bomb squad was late. Guess who immediately became 30 minutes early to everything? Yep! Me! Then when I kept asking too many questions in school and it prevented the teacher from completing her lessons, my father told me to go in the basement and grab the trench shovel. Of course I asked why and got so distracted with trying to figure it out I just ended up doing it. Then he had me toss it in the back of the truck and we drive out to an open field. We got out and he said "Dig a hole. 2 feet in width. 2 feet in length. 2 feet in depth." Of course I asked a bunch of questions. He responded with "Dig a hole. 2 feet in width. 2 feet in length. 2 feet in depth." After asking like 20 more questions I started digging, all the while asking more and more questions. "Fill it in." Of course I started asking more questions while filling it back in. We took a few steps and I followed while asking more questions and he stopped abruptly and said "Dig a hole. 2 feet in width. 2 feet in length. 2 feet in depth." 9 hours and 27 holes later, "Dig a hole. 2 feet in width. 2 feet in length. 2 feet in depth." I didn't ask any questions and dug the hole. I began preemptively filling the hole back in when he said "That's enough. Throw the shovel back in the truck. We're heading home." That night I sat down to the most delicious steak dinner of my life! He said "Do you know why I had you dig all those holes?" "No. Why-" " THATS WHY! SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DO WHAT YOUR TOLD!" I stopped asking too many questions from that point on. My father rarely yells but when he does it's like the voice of God. Like lightning cracking against your very soul.

  • At first, I was a little off put by the story about the girl with the living situation with her parents. At first, i related alot to her with the work hours. Cause i used to to work until 12:30am and get home at 1am. Sometimes I’d sleep right away and sometimes I’d be up until 3am. Also similar, my mom wanting me and my siblings to be up really early. She’d sometimes passively aggressively complain about us getting up to late and wasting the whole day asleep. Anyway, i was alittle off put at first over the level of disrespect she showed her mom. Because if I did that to my mom, I would have been slapped and kicked out immediately for being that disrespectful. But what made me rethink and reconsider my opinion is that my mom would never say the kinda of stuff to me that woman said to her daughter. She’d be mad at me, but not that horrible.

  • 6:29 this woman sounds like my aunt. She normally wakes up about 9-11 am then she goes to work in the city hall she's always get back to her mother's house at about 10-11 pm she and her mother does not argue alot but if they do the mother is just-i can't even. Her mother is really strict and still stick to her old ways she judges everything my aunt and even my family, her grandchildren from her son does not put up with this well atleast one of them. My 2nd cousin's is a girl and a boy both in college my boy cousin is about 21? Turning 22 this July he's the one that doesn't argue with his grandma while the other cousin if mine (F19?) Does not put up with it. I genuinely get annoyed at my aunt's mom she insults our looks and all those mean stuff. We go to church every Sunday she stays at the church along with us because the church is just a walk away from our House Ofcourse you know how old people like talking. Once I was just listening to music it was at 10% and still she just still chose to yell at me because it's "too loud". She yells at my mom for the most little stuff and it wasn't even HER PROBLEM she really likes to brag about what she's done in her life she brags about of how many people she helped and she says "I never expect anything in return" and then if the person that she helped doesn't give her what she wants she's gonna talk behind their back to us. Ofcourse I don't stand up to this it's just wrong. She always brags about her position shes a barangay official in our village? Basically a council member when someone disagree's with her she doesn't lash out at them but talk behind their backs to us. That's all for now. Really don't want to continue.

  • I had the same problem with my mum. I have an incurable life threatening illness, I am in pain all the time. Pain wears you out mnetally aswell as physically, but mum thinks I am lazy, even thought I got this illness when I was 15, 10+ years from this story and when I feel half way decent I want to go out and do house work. Not doing anything laying in bed is boring. She would wake me up any time she got up early and get me to do some inane "house work" even if I am doubled over in pain. Finally it all blew up when I told her to stop, of course she was not in the wrong. I needed someone to vent to and after talking to my younger sister, she told my mum how I felt, and it hit mum hard. What I dont like is it takes some people someone else to tell them the issue before they change. Finally she lets me sleep.

Moving out is the smartest move she could make. Too bad she didn't start waking her mom up at 2-4am. Mess with her mother's sleep schedule a little. I have sneaking suspicion the mom doesn't work, to have all that free time to bitch and moan.

  • About the second time in a row of being repeatedly and purposefully woken up at 6am for stupid things by a parent who understands my situation and has been told not to do so I would start enacting some stupid petty revenge. Like barging into their room at 3am to pour a large movie theater sized cup full of water on a certain insensitive person's head and then yelling my demands of a full TV commercial style breakfast made RIGHT NOW after they are jolted awake. (By tv commercial breakfast I mean the unreasonable volume of food in this picture: images.app.goo.gl/8DhaHrJvFhGajGzg9 ) It won't make things better and will certainly make things worse, but it will let me explain the irony of the situation and the value of sleep in the most sarcastic, passive aggressive and memorable way I can muster. Sometimes some rebellion is worth it. My boundaries for my relationships, parents or otherwise, are set by me and are to be respected. If you wont respect my boundaries you don't get a relationship with me. If I can't completely cut you out I will minimize time and communication with you until I can cut you out of my life. To demand slave like obedience to your whims 24/7 is not something a good parent will do. There is a big difference between a father and a Dad, and between a mother and a Mom. That difference is love, trust, respect, and wisdom. Young adults need a certain level of freedom and responsibility to succeed. You set your kids back years and lead them into stupid mistakes they never needed to make when you fail to provide them those things.
